The perfect recipe for success
Aligned Attitudes and Values
When a company employs people who support their mission, vision, and workplace values, both employer and employees achieve greater success because they set the same goals and focus on the same end result. When they set the same priorities, they know what it takes to move in the right direction.
For an individual, having a clear understanding of your personal values provides you with a guide on what to look for in a company that you wish to work with. These values translate to your career values – how you function in the workplace. While your company sets the house rules and office policies, you set your own strategy, according to your priorities and own values. It’s how you get the job done.
It is a fact that people who share the same values with your company tend to work together much better compared to those who have conflicting interests. While having the same values doesn’t always mean having the same personalities or attitude with other people, it helps in building great working relationships because these people carry the same goals, intentions, and passion.
01
MIXING WITH FUTURE CO-WORKERS
The relationship you have with your co workers is critical. It will influence the company and career advancement, whilst enhancing workplace contentment.
These relationships don’t happen overnight. They take time, thought and consideration. So, always keep an honest and open line of communication – if there is an issue allow your colleagues to help you solve it, talk about it, if things are going well share it with them.
Line managers are human too. They make mistakes as will you, they have emotions, as do you and they have personal issues to deal with, so do you. So, think before you criticise and act accordingly. And if possible, try to make them look good, it will be returned.

02
BITE SIZED AND PERSONAL SKILLS
Beyond your obvious skill set, which an employer will have already identified, you will need to be able to communicate clearly and openly, show a flair for problem solving, be organised and show that you can work in a team.
It’s important that when sending your portfolio/CV or even at an interview that you can highlight your key skills in a succinct and attention-grabbing way. These are the achievements in your career that want to be known for.
03
THE RIGHT INGREDIENTS
The right experience does not always translate to the exact experience, many cross over, so plead your case offering concise reasons why your personal narrative aligns with their needs. If you believe you have skills that are transferable to the role you’re applying for, make sure you highlight them and give tangible examples of how your existing skill set can benefit their team.

04
A TASTE OF THE FUTURE
If a role doesn’t raise your appetite, then it probably isn’t for you. The value of desire for the job and everything it offers cannot be overstated. If the opportunity doesn’t offer the challenges you desire, then don’t take up your or the company time by applying for it.
05
CULTURE FEEDS THE SOUL
Workplace culture is powerful. It can be a significant factor in business success or create a dysfunctional environment that drains talent. For companies wanting victory over brain drain, it is crucial to proactively shape a productive employee culture that reflects talent demographics as much as it does the customer. 94% of managers agree that a positive workplace culture creates resilient teams. And 97% of executives agree their actions directly impact workplace culture.
If you understand the culture and environment that you are about to enter then positive acclimation will soon follow.

06
THE ICING ON THE CAKE
Always back your talent! Clients and agencies alike need to believe in you and what you bring to each of them, So, stand up for your work and never criticise their offerings, always look for the positives. If you’re not sure then feel free to ask constructive questions, this will be appreciated, but if you are too negative, then they will push against you and will be unlikely to use you again.
